Baking adventures with mommy

Josh: Mommy and I did some baking together for the first time last week. We made lots of little men using a cookie cutter and painted them with blue (my fav colour) icing. Well mommy actually painted most of them because I was enjoying putting the sprinkles on top. I also enjoyed turning the "steering wheel" "round and round" and "faster faster!" as you can see in these pics. We'll definitely have to make some more of these (and next time get some photos of the finished product..).  Great for rainy days when I can't go riding my scooter.

And my little bro looked on from his bumbo

Smiles from Noah!

He decided to share some with us on camera! What a sweetie.

Josh's new bed

Josh is currently asleep in his pretty amazing bed, lovingly constructed by his daddy (with Josh's help, of course), snug underneath his new dinosaur duvet.  We're excited because Josh is excited! Mommy wipes away a tear at little boy growing up yet a little more...  Some pics, including Daddy and Josh enjoying a bedtime story.

Josh's funny things

Josh's vocabulary has taken off in leaps and bounds. We've been meaning to start writing down some of the things he says so that we can tell him stories when he is older, so thought this would be a good place to start.

Josh is a very friendly and sociable little guy. He says "hiya!" to everybody and never forgets to say "byyyyee" and waves and "see you in a minute" or "see you later".

When Grandma and Grandpa were hear, they would offer each other coffee, saying "coffee, darling?" which of course Josh now says whenever we talk about having coffee. He also spotted a teabag in the sink and said "piece of coffee. dropped it". Clever boy.

All trucks are currently "rubbish trucks" and anything he likes is blue (even if it isn't blue).

When we ask him questions and the answer definitely isn't no and/or he doesn't understand fully what we're saying, he answers with a pensive kind of "yeahh" and a sigh.  Yes is almost always followed by please, but he gets please and thank you a little muddled.

He can count to five. Ring a ring a roses is largely responsible for up to three.
His favourite foods are sausages, salami and strawberries.

Granzi started a tradition of wrapping him up tightly in his bath towel after bath "like a baby".  He then gets scooped up, has a look in the mirror, then "see mommy" (usually daddy doing bath) before getting dressed. So now he gets wrapped up "like a baby".  He can say his name "Josh Dickson" when asked and also how old he is, although that is often "two fingers" (thanks Granzi!)

Josh has been lovely and gentle so far with his little brother. He goes up to him, strokes his forehead and says "hello brother". And if he's crying he asks "what's wrong, Noah?" He sometimes get quite distressed too and says "baby crying! get it!"  Had a cute moment this morning when Noah was in our bed, Josh decided to climb in to and lay down next to him. Noah was looking over at him specifically with lots of smiles - too lovely!

Everything is a "bit". "bit scary" "bit dark in here" "bit heavy" "bit tight" "bit like it" (meaning don't like it) said with a serious, furrowed brow. We're now realising just how much we add "bit" to things.... He has recently also learnt "very" and sometimes tells us he is "very tired", amazingly, rubbing his eyes, and we know then he really must be tired! He can be like a stuck record too and repeats things over and over.

He says "cheese" when he smiles for the camera (and then rushes over to see the picture, often before it has been taken....)

"head" means he wants to climb on your shoulders.  He also tries to sing head, shoulders, knees and toes but missed out the shoulders part.  He knows "seasaw, marjory dore", "yes sir, yes sir.." "rosies posies" and his very own tune of happy birthday, which all songs revert back to. It is always Josh's birthday and he likes blowing the candles out at the end with a "yayyyy!".

He is a promising breakdancer and drummer, and quite something on his scooter - a "cool dude". Especially when he is wearing his sunglasses.

There are endless amounts of things Josh is learning, saying, doing right now. Exciting times and he continues to amaze us every day.

Going to try and be more pro-active again on this blog now that little Noah has arrived so watch this space....
